What is WIC?

WIC is a program that helps pregnant women, new parents, and young children eat well and stay healthy. To learn more go to: https://www.tnjustice.org/wic.

There are four kinds of eligibility for WIC:

1. Categorical

– Pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women

– Children up to age 5

– Primary caregivers (such as dads, grandparents, and foster parents) of children may apply

2. Residential

– Must be a resident of TN to receive WIC in Tennessee

– You do NOT need to have legal status

3. Financial

– The household needs to make less than the amount listed in this income limit table to qualify for WIC

– If you are enrolled in SNAP (food stamps), TennCare, or Families First (also known as TANF), you are income eligible for WIC

4. Nutritional

– You are working to improve your nutrition and health
